Over the years the Produce sector has switched almost entirely to cardboard boxes and plastic crates. A number of companies wish to distinguish themselves by not moving away from wood completely. Just for these clients Van der Windt has reserved a production line that still produces wooden crates. In the flower bulb segment the focus is on plastic (export) crates. These crates are manufactured all year round so that in the bulb lifting season hundreds of lorry loads a week can be dispatched - an annual logistics tour de force that for Van der Windt is simply ‘business as usual'.
